Cal is 2.

I took Deuce to Cal's 2nd birthday party a couple of weekends back. I seriously think that this was the most kids his age that Deuce has ever been around at one time. He had so much fun! I believe Carrie said that there were over 20 kids at one point. When we first arrived we were met by the huge fire truck that sat out in front of Cal's house.
Then we made our way inside the house where Deuce and a bunch of the other little boys played with Cal's new train table. Those boys were too cute, making "zoom" and "choo-choo" noises while they pushed their little train cars around.
Cal has every toy imaginable. The boys were just tearing up his playroom, pulling out everything they could find. Deuce spotted a huge stuffed dog over in the corner and he kept looking at me pointing at it shouting "dog!"
So then we went outside to Cal's amazing back yard. It's so perfect for the little ones to run and play with minimal supervision. It didn't take mister very long to discover every single ball in the back yard.
And then he found one of those Fred Flinstone cars. I don't think he had ever been in one of those. And let me tell you, I couldn't get him out of that thing. I think he spent at least 75% of the party "driving" around the yard and laughing at himself.
And then when Cal's cousin Jackson tried to hitch a ride on the back, he was not having it. We are working on the sharing thing...
While Deuce chose to drive around during party, Cal decided to run a couple of miles. That boy ran and ran and ran. This was his starting gate.
This is Cal's aunt Carrie. She came in to town for the party. She and my sister are the same age and were friends growing up, before Eddie's family moved to Texas. And that's little Andy, Cal's baby brother who is 4 months old.
Cal had a super nice set up for his party. Here is a look at his cupcake table. Check out the little scavenger at the back of the table... I'm talking about Deuce. Not the fireman outside who I saw eat like 15 billion of Carrie's awesome cookies.
Cal was ready to get down on his birthday cake. Deuce enjoyed his cupcake too. He was a complete mess! He wouldn't let me touch his cupcake {he's quite possessive of his food} and he kept putting it down to take a sip of milk. But he was putting it down in the grass...icing down. So every time he went to pick it up, it was covered in grass. I finally had to just throw it away.
Carrie arranged for a group shot of all of the kids in front of the fire truck which was totally awesome. It was awesome because the kids were everywhere. As you can tell, my child doesn't go to daycare or regularly take pictures with a big group of kids so he had no clue what was going on. I had to steal Carrie's pictures because I kept having to walk Deuce back to his place. Only he kept turning around like "what are y'all doing???"
I think this one is my favorite though. I love, love, love Cal's sweet smile and Deuce just aimlessly walking around confused about what everyone is doing.
After cupcakes it was time to play some more. We ventured over to the swing set and tree house that has a slide. The boys loved being at the top of the tree house and then coming down the slide.
And once again, Deuce only wants to go up the slide backwards. Then he wants me to push him up the rest of the way so he can slide down. I tried and tried to get him to climb up the ladder after Cal but he wasn't having it.
He was also excited to see the lawnmower that he has at Nana's so he thought he would help Eddie cut the grass. Cal was content pushing the grocery cart.
We had so much fun sharing Cal's birthday with him.
Happy 2nd Birthday Cal!

Random Tidbits.

Yeah, I like to take pictures. Lots of them. So many that this little goober ignores me every time I call his name to say "cheeeeeeese" and smile. And then as soon as I am over it and I put the camera down, he looks at me and says it as loud as he can with the silly ear to ear grin that I am trying to capture.
TJ had his first football game of the season last week and he scored his first touchdown ever! Deuce was clapping so intently during the entire game but I think mostly because he was watching the cheerleaders clap over and over again. After the game I believe TJ thought that Deuce was so excited that he had scored but I'm pretty sure he was just stoked to be holding his helmet.
This is what happens if you take your eyes off of your child for 2 seconds to pee. And then he spots Bailey {or Bay-Be as he affectionately calls her. we are working on the "L"} and takes off leaving a disaster zone behind him. And don't mind Ed's laundry...
Deuce was 17 months old last Thursday so we went to Chick-fil-a for lunch. I was thinking that maybe he can start to get some good interaction with other kids if I start taking him places where the kids hang out. What a freaking zoo.
There had to be at least 15 kids in that thing at one point, him being the youngest. And since he couldn't climb up the top of the play thing to go down the slide, he decided to go backwards and climb up the slide.
He would climb as far as his little socks would let him go {which was so not far} and then wait for the train of kids to come down and he would take off before they could catch him. He thought it was the best game ever!
He woke up Friday morning with an ear that resembled DUMBO! Yes, it was red, swollen and sticking out so far. I checked for bite marks but I couldn't see anything. It was warm to the touch and was so swollen it was like rubbery. It didn't bother him at all and he wasn't messing with it but it still didn't look right. So I put some cortizone on it and called the nurse. He has gotten several bug bits on his face over the past few weeks (like a whopping 7-10) and they always swell up {thanks, daddy!} but you can see the little dot where the mosquito has gotten him. I couldn't find anything on his ear so they advised me to come in to see the doc. This picture doesn't even do it justice for how swollen it was.
Hey look, there's another Taco Bell cup by my bed. I promise it's not the same one!

When we got to the doctor, he told me it was a bug bite and that was it. He said Deuce is just extremely sensitive to any type of allergen and so we are to give him a small dose of children's Claritin every morning. This obviously won't eliminate any bug bites but will hopefully minimize the reaction to them and other possible allergen's, like grass. After 3 days of cortizone, sure enough the swelling has gone down enough for me to see that pesky little bite on the top of his ear lobe.
And I know this picture is blurry but I just had to post it. His first tie. He only wore it for all of 2.5 seconds before he was trying to rip it off and again, he wouldn't stay still long enough for me to take a picture so this is all I got. My cute little dude.

The First Haircut.

WHOA!  Check out that mop!!!
We finally cut the boys hair last week. We would have done it earlier but Amanda is super busy so we just waited until I had my appointment already scheduled. My mom, my sister and myself all had appointments scheduled on my sister's 28th birthday. We figured this would be the perfect time to get the hair cut and there would be plenty of hands to help get it done.
It seemed like the easiest thing to do would be to let him sit in my lap while he got it cut. And since he was content sitting in my lap as soon as my mom brought him in, we took a pause on my hair to get to work on his. This worked for all of 2.5 seconds.
Then he was trying to look at Amanda every time she gathered a piece of his hair. And with a really sharp pair of scissors, things can get kind of challenging.
So we flipped him around, stood him up, sat him back down, let him get down and back up. Oh my goodness, we tried everything!
Then he wanted Nana to hold him. But as soon as she picked him up, he wanted to come back to me. And we went back and forth like this for awhile. We finally quit for awhile and let him run around while Amanda finished up my hair.
After my hair was done, we went back for some more. He let Amanda cut some more off and then he was over it again. And Nana was shoving Vanilla Wafers in his hands left and right.
He does love AK though. We all do. She did my hair, then mom's and then Laura's, all the while cutting Deuce's in between.
It was becoming a game to him. Let's see if they can catch me and then I'll let them snip off a piece. But only 1 piece and then I want down again. I was seriously sweating something fierce!
So you know he loves the bathtub right? Well he found the pedicure chair in the nail room and kept climbing into it as if it was a bath tub. He was sitting in there so calm, just looking out the window so Amanda even cut off some of his hair in the pedicure chair.
But then he was tired, and hungry and just totally over this whole hair cut thing. So I picked him up and held him down as tight as I could while Amanda clipped off the last little bit. He didn't mind the clippers but he didn't like me holding him down. But I had to, this was taking way too long!
Not a good look. He's not a very happy guy and I'm struggling to hold this strong sucker down!
So we finished the cut and moved on to dinner to celebrate Laura's birthday. He is full of kisses for everyone and they are of the mouth wide open, I think he may bite me kind of kisses. But I still ask for them all day long.
He "helped" auntie blow out her candle on her Outback birthday brownie. And he even took a couple of bites.
Happy Birthday Auntie!
I enjoy his hair so much more now. It looks not so much like he's Bebe's kid and more like a handsome little boy. It's amazing how a simple trim made him look so much older. We saved a majority of the curls that were snipped off so now I have to find a good place to keep them. I can't exactly put them in his baby book since his is technically online in the form of this blog. I will say that I'm not really looking forward to the next hair cut experience.
