Ed had his wisdom teeth taken out this morning. Check out this video of him in the recovery room immediately after. He was quite loopy and kept making faces at this little nurse behind me. He is now laying next to me, knocked out, sawing logs.

family vacay. 2012
We had one of the best vacations ever back in early August.
We spent hardly any money.
We hardly got dressed in much more than a bathing suit or yoga pants/basketball shorts.
We only wore flip flops.
And we just sat by the beach.
And we just sat by the beach.
It was perfect.
Rebecca's parents have a house at Topsail so we went for a week. Rebecca and I drove down with Chase, Austin and Deuce. Ed, Daniel & TJ came down a day later. The first thing the boys wanted to do was go to the water and throw rocks and mud. They could do this for hours.
Rebecca's sister and nephew came over to hang out for a little bit. Talon is only a few months younger than Deuce & Chase.
All week long the boys had their fair share of timeouts.
They would push, shove, fight over toys, cry and scream and then hug it out a few minutes later.
Neither of them go to daycare yet so it was good for them.
Rebecca and I just laughed most of the time.
We spent most of our time at the beach. Believe it or not Deuce has never been to the "ocean" part of the beach. We usually go to mom's place and it's on the sound with it's own beach area so we never have reason to go to the ocean side. Deuce immediately became obsessed with the ocean and the waves.
Like he didn't want to get out of the water obsessed.
Like he had super bad diaper rash from the sand and water.
You know we played sports.
Is that a stance or what?
We hung out on the amazing screened in porch.
We napped on the beach.
We attempted to put Deuce and Chase together on a mattress on the floor. They both slept through 1 night and got up at the same time super early. Both boys crawled into bed with me & Ed and slept a little longer.
Daniel & Rebecca took the boys on the kayaks so I could take a nap.
Alone.
Deuce had so much fun on the kayak that it put him right to sleep.
I'll let the pictures tell the rest. It was beach, beach, beach for us and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I am missing summer vacation already.

Updating the Kitchen Light
So we are on a home improvement kick. Well sort of. I spend more time than I probably realize redoing our entire house in my head. I have so many ideas planned out for each space of the house and I just have to find the time to actually get to work on them. It's incredibly challenging when you work far away from home and have a tot that you can't take your eyes off of!
So every fixture in our house is that standard, ugly, shiny brass that looks so 1990's. It's 2011 and if we ever want to sell our house one day, it needs to be up to date. So our number 1 priority is to update all of the lighting in the house. Because of all of that ugly brass and the outdated glass fixtures, all of the lighting seems to be a dingy yellow. I feel like it makes the house seem so small and confined. It needs to feel open, bright & breezy! So we will be working hard to update it. {don't mind the dust.}

Project #1 was to change out the old school, overhead lamp that hangs over the kitchen table. This thing hung so low that when we would eat at the table, Ed & I couldn't see each others face because it was in the way. Yes, I know, easily fixable with an S hook but I hated the light too so we never got around to getting the S hook because I just kept saying that I wanted another light.
One Sunday, a few weeks back, Ed just said we were going to Lowe's to get the light and we were putting it up that night. Neither of us has ever installed any sort of lighting so we were praying that we didn't electrocute ourselves. And being the impatient people that we are, we didn't wait until daylight when we could see without the main power source on. I mean, come on, it was Sunday and if we waited for daylight we would have had to wait until the next weekend. No way. This baby needed to come down.
So anyway, we unpacked the box and got to work. In the dark. With flashlights. Yep, we sure did. After some frustrating moments trying to shorten the chain, we were able to install the new light fairly easily and TOGETHER! Yea for teamwork. This new light provides so much more light and it's not dingy and yellow. And it's a modern fixture! I love it every time I flip the switch! Now I just need to find something for that back wall. I have an idea already in mind!!!!!!!!

Chase's 1st Birthday!
I am so behind on my blogging so I am taking you back a few weeks. Chase is one of Deuce's best friends. His 1st birthday was on July 23rd so we drove out to Siler City to Ms. Joan & Mr. Bill's house (Chase's grandparents.) I have to say, when we arrived, I saw Rebecca snapping away with this amazing DSLR camera {jealous!} so I inquired about her new purchase. Come to find out...it was actually Grandpa Bill's and being the nice friend that I am, I offered to take pictures throughout the entire party so Rebecca could actually enjoy her son's 1st birthday. She is so sweet and knows how I am about pictures and blogging so she agreed and I was beyond thrilled to practice with the camera of my dreams. So I stole most of these pictures from Rebecca's facebook page and the camera is not mine either...but I did actually press the "click" button! I obviously have a lot to learn but some of them came out nice!

After the bath, both boys put on their swim trunks and headed outside to play. Rebecca's parents have a pond in their front yard so the boys swam in a blow up baby pool beside the pond while the dad's and big bro's fished. Ed caught one heck of a turtle {which turned out to be a log!} :) Check out his new camo hat that he just had to have before the party...
Deuce and Chase played and played and played...swimming in the pool, playing with the water table, beating each other up and chasing each other around. These two are going to be so much fun to watch grow up.
Chase got a lot of fun presents (that Deuce was sure to test out for him) and we had a great time spending the evening with our good friends!

The day was beautiful and the party set up was bright and full of summer fun. Rebecca and her mom had put in a lot of work {they always do} and the food was so pretty & colorful, not to mention yummy.

Chase thoroughly enjoyed his cake. Unlike Deuce, he dug right in and smeared it all over his face, his high chair and the floor. It was hard to take it away from him! Deuce enjoyed his cupcake too and like most of the time, I ended up with more cupcake on me than he did!
After cake, Chase got a quick wash down before it was time to head outside and swim. I think Deuce was a little jealous that his buddy got to take a bath and he didn't!After the bath, both boys put on their swim trunks and headed outside to play. High School Memories
So this past Saturday was the 80s v 90s alumni basketball game at Chapel Hill High. I just have to tell you, it was so much fun to see these guys play ball together again. My girl Crystal updated her facebook status to say "This game is hilarious. They have hit the floor more than the ball has." That was so true within the first 10 minutes of the game. There were some serious gasps and "Oh's" happening from within the stands whenever one of the 80s players tumbled and rolled across the hardwood. I mean these guys are now in their 40's and they were playing so hard. They had something to prove. They still got game. Well...some of them. My bro-in-law definitely does. After all, his picture is in the Hall of Fame at CHHS.

Anyhow, it was so much fun to be back at CHHS and back in the gym where I spent many nights cheerleading while my future husband was playing basketball. I loved having Deuce there and letting him walk all over the basketball court where his daddy & his uncle played ball growing up. Of course, Grandma & Grandpa were there and were the only parents to have a kid on both teams. They had a blast seeing people they hadn't seen in years, showing off their grandbaby and watching their boys play against each other for the first time.
There was a DJ spinning some great tracks from the 80s and 90s during the hour leading up to tip off. The player turnout was great and they had a good time taking jabs at each other. There was a 3 point contest and a complete concession stand with some yummy food out in the caf. The attendance was great and all of the proceeds were given to the CHHS class of 2011. I saw a lot of people that I hadn't seen in years including former teachers and coaches. The 1985 class president was the event organizer and the current CH police chief is a 1985 graduate so he was there to speak as well. The guys arrived in plenty of time to get in a good warm up which was imperative for my husband, considering this was the first official game he has played in since dislocating his shoulder in 2008 and then having knee surgery last November. I loaded him up with some Aleve before the game. The teams were introduced and the game was underway. The majority of the crowd was of the 80s generation so there was a loud, resounding cheer whenever they scored.
After a few minutes of watching from the stands, we decided to create a kiddie corner over by the bench's. The kids are now of the age where they don't want to be held. Aja came to watch with Deuce and they met up with Addison and Sophia. Addison's uncle is Tony and Sophia's daddy is Ryan.
The game was very exciting. After pretty much beating up on the 80s team during the first half, (I think they were up by like 15 at one point) the 90s let the old guys back in the game. It seriously went down to the last second. The crowd was loud and on their feet during the last few minutes as the score remained tight. A shot by Pat Walton for the 90s was good and put them back up by 1 with a little less than 3 seconds on the clock. It was all over after that. Deuce slept through the entire 4th quarter.
I love those last 2 shots of Ed & his bro. There have never been pictures of them on opposite teams before. I only wish my camera actually took good pictures indoors!! After the game was over, a large group of us went out to eat at Bailey's and had a great time catching up and reminiscing about high school days.
Grandma and some of her boys. Back in the day, the Geer household was the spot to be. Everyone stayed over at their house and Grandma always cooked for them. Both Major's friends and Ed's. The boys kept saying they wanted to go to Betty's to eat instead of going out. I'm sure if it hadn't been 9:30pm, she would have gladly agreed.
