Exploring Greensboro.

Now that it's summer and I have Thursdays and Fridays off, Deuce and I are having a great time exploring parts of Greensboro that we've never had the chance to enjoy. A couple weeks back we decided to walk through downtown. We started by making a trip to the big public library. Deuce is like his Nana and loves books. I think he was a little overwhelmed when we walked into the children's section at all of the bright colors, the tree house for reading, the little tables, and the rows and rows of books that were all within his reach.
Then we walked to the City Center. He loved all of the fountains and the grassy area for running.
After we had been there awhile, Deuce took it upon himself to join some other kids in a game of soccer. Soccer with a basketball, that is.
He had a blast.
This kid loves being outside.
Other things I want to do in Greensboro:
1. Museum of Natural Science
2. Shop for antiques
3. Boutique hop through downtown
4. Civil Rights Museum

What else should we do?

Splash Park

I have found my summer haven. And it comes in the form of water and sun. And it is perfect for little hands and feet. And momma doesn't have to worry about drowning. Back in April a brand new city park opened up about 2 miles from our house, on a pretty desolate road. I happened to drive past it one day while taking a route that I almost NEVER take. Thank goodness I did. At this new city park are several ponds for fishing, 2 large playgrounds, tons of walking trails and a top notch splash park. The splash park opened Memorial Day weekend and Deuce has been at least once a week, if not more, since it opened. Since it's located off of this pretty desolate road, I don't think many people in Greensboro have found there way to it yet. And I'm just fine with that. It is totally free and it's amazing! A couple of hours playing in the sun & water leads to an amazing afternoon nap. Plus, the ice cream truck comes by... amen!
yes, i totally let my child eat his ice cream off the ground.

Greensboro's Winter Wonderland

Friday, December 3rd we took the boys to the Winter Wonderland in downtown Greensboro.  Deuce was all bundled up for the cold.
He thought he would play a little hide & go seek with Bailey before we left.  Please ignore the pile of "Holiday Goodwill Donations" that are in the background!  They are now gone and the Christmas tree is in its place.  Bailey is black, she sort of blends in if you are like me and can only focus on the junk pile.
Elm Street is blocked off and there are all sorts of street vendors and musical groups playing as you walk along.  TJ got a mixed bag of caramel & kettle corn that was made fresh.  It was yummy!
Everyone was bundled up tight
because it was so cold outside!
There were snow machines on every street corner so TJ had a blast playing in the "snow!" Deuce was a little confused about what the cold stuff was on his face. Little did we know that it would really snow the next day!
The Greensboro News & Record was giving out reindeer antlers to everyone so you know we had to partake!
There was a tree lighting ceremony and TJ counted down until the lights flickered on.  There had to be thousands in attendance.  The tree was beautiful!
TJ ran in to one of his friends from football and they "posed" for a shot in front of the tree.
A good time was had by all as the baby clearly was worn out!
