3.

Y'all know how when you're a kid and you see someone for the first time in awhile they're all, "Man you're getting so big!" and you kind of roll your eyes like yep? I found myself being one of those people at Deuce's 3rd birthday party last weekend. Standing back and looking at him and his buddies made me happy, sentimental and sad all at the same time. They used to be so small and cuddly and sweet. Now they're potty trained and big and stubborn and opinionated and wild. But their smiles and their laughter resonate with me just the same as it did when they were babies.
excuse the cheese puffs in the teeth....
We had Deuce's birthday party at the Children's Museum of Alamance County. It was awesome! It just opened last fall and is right off of Hwy 87 in Graham. If you haven't taken your kid you should. $5 is all it costs and there is endless fun. We set up the big party room and had snacks and cupcakes. Then we released them to the wild to let them play. I know they all had a blast and hopefully slept good, despite all of the sugar I gave them.
Thank you to everyone that came out to help our little guy celebrate being 3. He had a wonderful time.

Honeysuckle Ridge

So I may be a little late on this but I just downloaded the blogger mobile app so hopefully I can find more time to blog since I can do it straight from my phone and not only from a computer. When I leave work I try my best not to get on the computer therefore I've totally slacked on my blog this year. We'll see how this goes...

Last night we went to see Honeysuckle Ridge play at a bar in Greensboro. I have been to see them a few times and Ed was able to come last night for the first time. This group is a country music band and they are awesome! I was introduced to this group from a girlfriend of mine whose husband is the lead guitarist. After seeing them play the first time, I realized that the drummer grew up in Asheville with Ed's best friend Karlos. The drummer's wife went to UNCG with Ed an we have mutual friends with the lead singer. Crazy what a small world it is. Needless to say, I try to get out to see them whenever I can.

So last night we stayed out way too late, drank a little too much and had way too much fun. Here are some pictures of our night.

Soccer.

We have started our first season of soccer. I haven't decided if he likes it or not. His first practice was great... until I showed up. Ed got him to practice and said he participated in all of the drills and was having a blast. I got there with about 15 minutes left in practice and when he saw me, he was done. He didn't want to practice anymore. So I decided that I would not be going to any more practices. Or I will just be watching from the car. Such a momma's boy. He played great during his first game and seemed to really enjoy it.
He seemed to understand what he was supposed to be doing.
And he even played goalie for a quarter. He didn't allow any goals and even got to do some corner kicks, which he loved.
Then he we got the Rota virus. So 10 minutes into his 2nd practice he said he didn't want to play. All he did was lay in my lap. This is unlike him to do when we are outside and playing. We ended up staying home from school for 3 days that week.
He had his second game this past weekend. Unfortunately the game was a 1pm. Right smack in the middle of nap time. This was not good. He was tired and cranky and 5 minutes into the game Ed was giving him directives and it was too much for him. He was all the way on the other side of the field and just started crying and walked across the field during the game and told me "no more soccer mommy!" We made him sit and watch the rest of the game and it seemed like every 5 minutes there was another kid laying out in the middle of the field crying.
Note to YMCA: Toddlers take naps!!
(He is also the youngest on the team. Most of the kids are 4-5, some are 3 and he's the only 2 year old. The kid in line in front of him is 5.)
He ended up sleeping for 3 hours after that game.
We have practice tonight so I will be spying from the car.
We'll see if that helps.
