DIY Teacher Appreciation Part II

REPOSTED BY BLOGGER AFTER THEY DELETED THE ORIGINAL POST:

Along with the pencil bouquet I made for TJ's teacher last week, I made her a personalized Post-It Note holder.  This is one of the easiest & cheapest things you will ever make.  Wanna Try?
Supplies:
Plastic picture frame (4x6)
Scrapbook Paper
Post It pad
Glue Dots or any other adhesive
Embellishments
Remove the paper picture that came in the frame.  Use this as your template for measuring your scrapbook paper.  Cut as many pieces as you wish and layer however you want to create the template size.  Embellish with stickers or anything that will slide in the frame.  Turn the frame upside down so the stand part is at the top and the frame slants downwards.  Slide your paper in.  Using your glue dots or adhesive, secure your post it pad to the frame.  You probably don't want to use an adhesive that is super secure (like a super glue) because once the pad is gone, you want them to be able to attach another one.  Bag it up and your done!
Seriously, it doesn't get much easier.  I think I spent like $2 on this.

His Many Faces...

Yesterday marked 13 months old for Deuce.  And with that 13 months comes quite the personality.
The tantrums have started.  The gibberish has started.  The hyperness has started.  But I tell you what, the really good, tight hugs have started.  The intentional smiles and giggles have started.  The nonstop "dada, dada, dada" has started and it feels so good.  The way Ed smiles every time he hears his name makes me light up as though he is finally calling me mama (which is a rare occasion, by the way).  It is becoming more and more evident that he has quite the combination of mine & Ed's personalities.  Here is a taste of Ed's personality...and an even more obvious glimpse into why he acts just like his daddy most days.
And we wonder why he drools so much?

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday everyone!  Check out some of my favorite finds from this week.

Art Activity Wall
You know how you always have this vision of what your dream house will look like (or does look like if you are that lucky)?  How will it be decorated inside?  How many rooms you will have and what each room will be?  Yeah, I do that all the time.  Ed & I enjoy riding through neighborhoods and picking out houses we like and those we don't and combining all of our favorites.  Well I stumbled upon this picture and decided that ONE DAY, when we have a BIG HOUSE, with a BIG PLAYROOM....I want this!  Only problem is: I hope we can afford that nice, new house with a bonus room before the kids outgrow this.  I picture them away from me, door shut & drawing on the walls and NOT getting in trouble for it.  bliss.  Get the details HERE.
Library Cards
Yeah I'm not a part of a book club and I don't participate in any book swaps but I still thought this idea was super cute!  I love all things paper & packaged so I thought this could still work for some of my good books that I lend to friends every so often.  Okay like maybe once a year but still...
Heck, Nana is a reading teacher so maybe I could make them for her!  Get the scoop HERE.
Sponge Water Bombs
I don't see me giving these to TJ right now for him to "bomb" Deuce with but Deuce would probably love to play with these in the bathtub.  Or the beach when we go next weekend.  Maybe I'll take a bunch of sponges to the beach and have Nana & Auntie help me make them.  Then we can surprise the boys by bombing them.  Super easy instructions HERE.

Babies are {Messy}

Last Thursday my sister kept Deuce for the day so we decided to meet at Southpoint for dinner, after I got off of work.  This way I wouldn't have to drive ALL the way into Raleigh to get him and then turn around and drive ALL the way back to Greensboro.  She obliged and mom decided that she wanted to meet us too.  We decided that Chaamps would probably be the best place to go and it wasn't too busy.

It was during this rendezvous to Chaamps that I finally came to the conclusion that my child is not a fan of Cheerios.  at. all.  Is that weird?  Aren't all kids supposed to like Cheerios?  And I don't think that he dislikes their taste... I think he feels that they are too small to satisfy his appetite.  I think this because if I put a Cheerio in his mouth he eats it, no problem.  But he sooo enjoys feeding himself now that I do my best allow him to eat finger foods on his own.

however:
this was the floor after dinner:
 and the table:
{notice the crayon marks in the bottom left corner where he kept throwing the paper on the ground so he could color on the table...sigh.}
I decided that he just threw them on the ground like little pellets that he was annoyed with.  And the ones on the table? Yeah those were the ones I gave him that he didn't have time to throw down before we left.  I mean, I know they are supposed to make a mess, but this was plain ol' Cheerio hatin'.  If I could understand his gibberish, I am pretty confident that he's probably requesting steak quite often.  He's gonna need it if he plans on playing here some day...

Life's Moments Captured Through My Phone

I don't know about you but I find myself randomly going through the image gallery on my cell phone quite often.  Sometimes it's when I'm bored, sometimes it's when I am riding in the car with Ed and sometimes it's when I am feeling just plain nostalgic - as I do today.  One of my good friends Carrie is having her 2nd baby today {scheduled c-section so I am assuming little Andy is already here} and it got me thinking about how it seemed like just yesterday we were both pregnant and then she had number 1, Cal, and I watched him grow through her blog pictures.  Now she is already on number 2 and soon to be starting over with the blog pictures so it has made me a little sentimental.  SAP, I know.  Of course, 99% of my pictures are of Deuce and I love to see the changes he has made in such a short period of time.  Some of them I have posted here to the blog, as well as my facebook, but some of them have never been seen before.  I thought you may enjoy seeing the moments that happened so fast, I only had time to grab my cell...

So there you have it.  8 months of random pictures.  You probably don't get the same thrill that I do from seeing all of these particular pictures but that's okay.  Maybe it will inspire you to go back through some of your old family pictures to relive some great memories.

PS. If anybody knows how to recover chairs {Carol Richards} please let me know!  This is TJ's old chair & it's pretty ugly & gross.  I would love for it to look slightly (okay, a lot) more updated.
